The web, art-directed.

Full-spectrum — est. 2026 — working worldwide
Manifesto 01

Most studios fill space. We charge for the edit.

vo1d builds with a strict edit: one idea per screen, nothing on the page that has not earned its place. The empty page is not a problem to be solved — it is the most expensive material on the web, and we know how to spend it.

Services — full-spectrum web 02
01

Design

Identity, interface, design systems. Typography carries the brand; the grid does the talking.

02

Development

Hand-built front ends, solid back ends. Modern stacks, headless CMS, and code we are not embarrassed to hand over.

03

E-commerce

Storefronts, drops, catalogues that check out. Built to hold its nerve under launch-day traffic.

04

Creative direction

Positioning, campaign, launch. One voice from first sketch to shipped page — direction that survives contact with production.

05

Motion & interaction

Scroll choreography and micro-interaction with a reason to exist. If it moves, it means something.

06

Performance

Speed is taste. Sub-second loads, green vitals, accessibility as a baseline — never a line item.

Selected studies — self-initiated 03

Four studies, four directions, one standard.

There is no client list to parade yet, and we refuse to invent one. So we built the proof ourselves: four self-initiated studies, designed and engineered full-scale in this studio. Each plate deliberately wears a different direction — range, not restlessness. The taste is the constant.

No. I — Reading study

Folio

  • Editorial
  • Typography
  • Design

Fig. I — fourteen ellipses, one slow rotation. Drawn in SVG, 1.1 KB.

Brief

Longform reading on the web lost to the feed. Folio is a reading-experience study: one essay, one column, typography doing all the work.

Approach

Serif at display scale, a measure set for the eye, ivory paper instead of glare. No sidebars, no share rail — the margin is for thinking.

Outcome

A reading template: three page types, one gesture per screen, and a footnote system that never throws the reader out of the text.

Plate 02In-house study2026

raster.

A design-system study: can an identity survive forty screens without one decorative decision?

  • Identity
  • Design system

Brief

Most identities die the day they meet a settings page. Raster starts there: the system is the brand, or there is no brand.

Approach

Eight columns, published like a logo. Two weights, one red, no illustration. Every component is a coordinate; the layout is the identity.

Outcome

A token set and 24 components that hold a product, a deck and a poster without changing accent — consistency as the aesthetic.

KERNEL

$ kernel budget --strict
# docs-engine study — the budget is written before the design

PAGE BUDGET 15.0 KB
--------------------------
HTML ██████░░░░ 9.2 KB
CSS ██░░░░░░░░ 3.4 KB
JS ░░░░░░░░░░ 0.0 KB # zero on read paths
FONTS ░░░░░░░░░░ 0.0 KB # system mono
SVG █░░░░░░░░░ 2.4 KB

RENDER TARGET < 0.5 s
STATUS WITHIN BUDGET

Brief

Documentation engines rot into JavaScript. Kernel is a docs-site study with the budget written before the design: text first, speed as the identity.

Approach

Server-rendered pages, system mono, zero client JS on read paths. Every feature fits inside the budget or it does not ship.

Outcome

A working spec: 15 KB page budget, sub-half-second render target, and a layout that reads like the terminal it was born in.

PLATE 04CONCEPT — NOT CLIENT WORK2026

48-hour drop — limited-release study

  • Creative direction
  • Motion
  • Commerce

Brief

A limited release lasts 48 hours; the site should act like it. Volta is a drop study — one page, one countdown, type doing the shouting.

Approach

Poster logic at browser scale. Kinetic type instead of photography, black on signal, a marquee that never apologises.

Outcome

A reusable drop kit — countdown, queue and marquee as one pattern, light enough to survive launch-minute traffic on a weak phone.

Approach 04

We are a new studio, not new to the work.

You will not find borrowed logos or padded credentials here. Judge us by the page you are reading: one HTML file, no framework, no fonts shipped over the wire, nothing moving without a reason. The studies above show the range; this page sets the standard.

01

Subtraction first

One idea per screen. Every element argues for its place or it leaves. Subtraction is the first tool we reach for, not the last.

02

Type is the interface

Scale, weight and rhythm do the work that decoration pretends to. If the typography can say it, nothing else has to.

03

Motion must mean

Nothing autoplays, nothing spins for effect. Movement is mapped to what you do — scroll, hover, intent — or it is cut.

04

Ship light

Weight is a design decision. We treat every kilobyte like it will be paid for on someone else’s data plan — because it will.

Working worldwide

vo1d is an independent studio that designs and engineers the web under one roof. No handoffs, no decks that die in translation — the person who draws the page can build it.

We hold the whole stack to one standard: type set to the pixel, code reviewed like copy, budgets for weight and speed written before the first artboard.

We keep the studio small and the project list short — by design. Fewer things, made properly.
